This is why I think it's hilarious that people wearing omega, rolex, etc, say the moonswatch and swatch blancpain are overpriced for the brand name. The secret is it's all overpriced; they keep hiking the prices because the average watch purchaser is blinded by consumerism and marketing. I got it at first, with the only wristwatch flight qualified by NASA, but in terms of a modern day watch, I will give my reasons to why I don't think the Omega Speedmaster is infallable. The 1861 movement uses a plastic delrin part for the brake.
What Omega has fixed with the Speedmaster Professional is its water resistance. Well, it was resistant to 50 meters before and used by NASA for EVA training — which takes place in the water — but swimming with it wasn’t a risk-free experience.
But there are those persistent rumors that many poor souls have been forced to buy the new Speedmaster at gunpoint. 😲 And driving away collectors? How is Swatch Omega doing that exactly?
